Kitchen
From idea and planning to a complete, finished kitchen – with quality at every stage.

The kitchen is the heart of the home. It is where we gather with family and friends, cook and share everyday moments, large and small. A kitchen should therefore be more than a functional workspace: a natural meeting place where architecture, design, materials and practical solutions form a considered whole.
At Viken Bærekraftig Utvikling Norge AS we offer complete kitchen renovations and conversions. We take responsibility for the whole kitchen space, from stripping out the existing kitchen to finishing the walls, floor, ceiling, technical installations and new kitchen units.
We do not just deliver a new kitchen. We develop and rebuild the entire room, with every trade brought together in one coordinated delivery. With our own interior architect, our kitchen design software and expertise in technical solutions and project management, we create solutions suited to the home’s architecture and the client’s wishes.
With our range of worktops in Italian ceramics and natural stone, we offer a wide choice of materials, finishes and styles, which we combine with kitchen units and other interior elements to create complete, lasting solutions.
Our process – from idea to finished kitchen
Step 1: Site visit, needs assessment and structured quote
We start with a thorough visit to the home, going through the client’s wishes, needs and expectations for the new kitchen. We assess the whole kitchen space, not just the existing units.
We review the layout, walls, floor, ceiling, structures and technical installations, and look at ways to change the layout, move functions and create solutions that make better use of the space and improve function and appearance.
Based on the visit we prepare a structured, descriptive quote for the building and technical work. It may include a complete strip-out, rebuilding walls and ceilings, new floor structures, electrical work, plumbing, ventilation and any other necessary work.
This first phase gives the client a financial and technical basis for a decision before we move on to detailed design, kitchen design and the final choice of materials and products.
Step 2: Detailed design, interior architect and kitchen design
If the client wishes to proceed with the structured quote, we start the next phase, in which the final kitchen design is developed. We have the expertise in-house, with our own interior architect and professional expertise in design, construction, technical solutions and project management.
We design the kitchen in our own kitchen design software, developing the layout, units, cabinet arrangement, work surfaces and other functions for each project.
Throughout the design we look at the kitchen space as a whole, considering workflow, ergonomics, storage, lighting, material transitions and how the kitchen works with the rest of the home.
An important part of the process is choosing worktops and materials. We offer an extensive range of ceramic worktops and natural stone in a wide choice of colours, textures and finishes. The materials can also be used for kitchen islands, wall surfaces, niches and bespoke interior elements.
We settle appliances, sinks, taps, technical installations and other product choices. Once the main solutions are agreed, they form the basis for the contract and the schedule.
Step 3: Contract, organisation and schedule
Once the scope, technical solutions, materials and deliveries are agreed, we draw up a written contract with a schedule.
We use Byggblankett 3501 from Standards Norway as the standard contract where this form of contract applies. The contract sets out the scope of work, financial terms, schedule, responsibilities and how changes are handled.
We coordinate the trades and plan a sensible order of work. As a client you have one dedicated project manager who follows up tradespeople, suppliers, progress and quality, and looks after communication throughout the project.
Changes and any additional work are agreed and documented in writing before they are carried out.
Step 4: Site set-up, protection and complete strip-out
Before construction starts, we put in place the necessary covering, dust control and protection of adjoining rooms and building parts.
In a complete kitchen renovation we remove the existing units, worktops, appliances and other installations according to the agreed scope. The strip-out may also include wall linings, ceilings, floor coverings, subfloors and structures that must be removed to rebuild the kitchen.
When structures are opened up, we check for hidden damage, moisture and technical defects. Anything requiring further work is reviewed with the client before repairs. We arrange for responsible waste handling and a safe rebuild.
Step 5: Rebuilding structures and technical installations
After the strip-out we rebuild the kitchen space. The work may include building and altering walls, levelling floors, new ceilings, reinforcement, changing the room layout and other necessary structural work.
We coordinate every trade involved, including carpentry, electrical installations, plumbing, ventilation and other technical installations. Pipework, drains, sockets, lighting, ventilation and connection points are designed around the final kitchen layout.
We make sure the technical installations are correctly placed and checked before walls, floors and ceilings are closed. The work is carried out by qualified professionals in line with the relevant requirements, including TEK17 and NEK 400 where they apply.
Step 6: Surfaces, kitchen units and complete finishing
Once structures and technical installations are complete and the necessary inspections are done, work starts on the kitchen’s visible surfaces. We finish the whole room with filling, painting, flooring, tiling, mouldings and the other agreed surface work.
We supply and install kitchen units designed in our kitchen software, combined with worktops in ceramics or natural stone as the client chooses. We coordinate the installation of cabinets, drawers, sink, taps, appliances and other kitchen components.
Through precise design and coordination between the trades, we make sure the units, worktops, technical installations and the room’s other surfaces work together as one complete solution. We place great emphasis on precision, symmetry, material transitions and craftsmanship.
Our complete delivery covers the whole kitchen space – not just installing the units.
Step 7: Quality assurance and documentation
Quality assurance is part of the entire construction process. The project manager follows up the work and carries out the necessary inspections together with the responsible trades.
We check the work against the agreed delivery and the relevant technical requirements. Throughout the project we collect documentation, which may include declarations of conformity, inspection forms, product documentation, photographs of concealed structures and documentation of technical installations.
The operation and maintenance (FDV) documentation is collected and uploaded to Boligmappa.no, where the client has digital access to information about the work carried out, products, installations, operation and maintenance.
This gives the home a valuable record that can also be useful for future maintenance, alterations or a sale.
Step 8: Final inspection, completion and handover
As the work nears completion, we carry out a final quality inspection of the whole kitchen space. We check that the work matches the contract and follow up any outstanding points.
We then carry out a joint handover inspection with the client, reviewing the delivery and any points that need follow-up.
We make sure the relevant final and FDV documentation is available in Boligmappa.
Our goal is for the client to take over a complete kitchen where functionality, technical quality, materials and appearance are all taken care of – to enjoy with confidence for many years.
One project manager – one point of contact
A complete kitchen renovation often involves several trades, suppliers and decisions that must be coordinated throughout the construction process. At Viken Bærekraftig Utvikling Norge AS the client has one dedicated project manager who follows the project from initial planning to completion, coordinating the work, following up tradespeople and suppliers, keeping to the schedule and communicating with the client throughout. This creates continuity, reduces the risk of misunderstandings and gives the client one clear point of contact. Good project management matters for quality, cost and progress.
