A fully renovated, contemporary senior apartment

Picture an apartment where nothing had changed since 1989. Beige tiles in the bathroom. Oak-toned kitchen fronts. Lighting that gave too little light, and a layout that felt cramped. This full renovation started right there - not a broken home, just one that had been left behind in another era.

The interior architect's role

When you have dozens of decisions to make at once, it helps to have an interior architect and an experienced builder on the team - tile colour, grout tone, floor shade, kitchen fronts, light fittings, and someone who sees how it all fits together.

I was given so many good tips and advice on how to lay out the bathroom, smart solutions I might not have thought of myself.- Homeowner

The detail that tied it together

The same tiles run from the entrance hall into the bathroom. A small choice with a big effect on how the apartment feels. A common thread throughout the home, with well-considered layouts and thoughtful colour choices. The tiles are from Studio Pietra Element, which offers Italian ceramics and natural stone.

The result

Not a renovated 1989 apartment, but a modern 2025-standard home. Bright, functional, and finally tailored to how the owner wants to live. Every material was chosen from suppliers that meet the requirements of Ethical Trade Norway.

A fully renovated, contemporary senior apartment - How the project was carried out

How the project was carried out

If you are considering a similar full renovation - here is what the process looked like, from demolition to a finished apartment:

Weeks 1-2: Demolition

Everything out. Tiles, cabinets, floors, wall panels, lighting and doors. What remained was just walls and a blank canvas - ready to become something new.

Weeks 3-4: The invisible work

New water and drainage pipes and a new electrical installation - more sockets, a lighting plan set up with modern capacity. The most important work is often what you cannot see afterwards.

Weeks 5-8: Building it back up

A new bathroom from floor to ceiling: tiles, fixtures, underfloor heating. The kitchen installed. New flooring laid in every room. Walls finished and painted. The details were checked and checked again before handover.

People who come to visit think I have a really beautiful bathroom, and I completely agree with them.
